Unemployment claims drop by 35,000

The number of initial filings for unemployment dropped by 35,000 during the week ending Nov. 21, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Labor. In Texas, the number of newly unemployed citizens also fell in recent weeks.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, initial claims for unemployment insurance nationwide hit 466,000 during the most recent week, down from 501,000 during the same period a year earlier.

Texas is among dozens of states that are still offering extended unemployment benefits, according to the report no fax payday advance.

During the week of Nov. 14, Texas was among five states that reported drops in initial unemployment claims. In Texas, the number of filings dropped by 4,710. Other states experiencing decreases included California, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Ohio.
